
Thandeka Mxenge is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree obtained from the University of Forth Hare, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree obtained from the University of Natal (Durban) and Master of Laws (LLM) degree obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand. After admission as an attorney in 1999, she joined Multichoice Africa in their International Gaming Networks division as a Regulatory Affairs Assistant, and later joined the public sector as Deputy Director at the Department of Public Service and Administration.
In this role some of her achievements include reviewing the Ministerial Handbook to align it with the South African Bill of Rights; participating in the establishment of the contract management centre at the Department of Social Development in the Eastern Cape, as part of the Interim Management Team. She went on to join Statistics South Africa as a Legal Advisor, where she was successful in establishing the legal services unit and assisted with the establishment of the Corporate Governance Division.
She then joined the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) as a Senior Manager in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, where she was successful in establishing governance systems within the Office of the CEO and improving communication between the Office of the CEO and the entire organisation. Before joining the DWCPD, she was employed as Board Secretariat and Legal Officer at the newly South African National Space Agency, where she was successful in establishing Board governance processes in line with Kind Guidelines and Treasury Guidelines.
